A Forest Feast Unfolds: The ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ Campaign Details
From February 7 (Saturday) to March 29 (Sunday), the four “Sumikkogurashi Asobi Studio” locations across Japan will transform to celebrate the ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ theme. This new series introduces a shy tanuki (a Japanese racoon dog, often depicted as a mischievous but kind-hearted creature with a round belly, symbolizing good fortune) who runs a cozy restaurant in the forest. Sumikko and friends, plump and happy after their meal, make for an irresistibly cute cast.
The “Sumikkogurashi Asobi Studio,” which first opened in LaLaport Kadoma, Osaka, in April 2023, has since expanded to Nagoya (July 2024), Sapporo (December 2024), and Katsushika, Tokyo (September 2025), offering immersive play experiences for children.
During the campaign period, visitors can enjoy three special activities:
1. Exclusive Limited-Edition Stickers
Children entering the facility will receive one random limited-edition sticker featuring the ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ theme design. There are two designs available, adding an element of surprise to each visit. These special stickers replace the usual designs for the campaign duration.

2. The “Otsukai Challenge”
Step into the role of a restaurant helper with the “Otsukai Challenge.” Using an “Otsukai Memo” (shopping errand list), children can embark on a quest within the play area to gather ingredients needed for the tanuki chef. This imaginative play allows kids to help prepare delicious dishes for the Sumikko characters. The air will surely be filled with the sounds of tiny chefs bustling about, creating imaginary culinary masterpieces.

3. Charming Photo Props
Capture unforgettable memories with special photo props designed with the ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ theme. These adorable props provide a perfect backdrop for taking cute pictures with Sumikko and friends, allowing families to immortalize their visit with playful snapshots.

Additionally, those who purchase Sumikkogurashi merchandise totaling 1,100 yen or more in the goods area will receive a special, limited-edition ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ big sticker.
“The way this campaign blends the new ‘Tanuki no Manmaru Restaurant’ theme with interactive play is truly heartwarming,” shared one enthusiastic fan. “It’s like stepping right into Sumikko’s cozy world, helping the tanuki, and creating delicious memories!”
