Episode 1 Synopsis: “Otaku, Gal, and KiraMon”
The inaugural episode introduces Takuya Seo, a high school otaku who adores the girls’ anime “KiraMon.” His ordinary life takes an unexpected turn when he is approached by two charismatic high school ‘gal’ students: Kotoko Ijichi, who is outgoing and sits surprisingly close, and Kei Amane, who appears cool but possesses an endearing, somewhat clumsy otaku vibe. This encounter sets the stage for a unique romantic comedy, exploring the playful dynamics between an otaku boy and two distinct types of ‘gal’ girls.
For Episode 1, the script is handled by Kazuhiko Inukai, with Shin Mita responsible for both storyboard and direction. Rion Matsuda serves as Chief Animation Director, also contributing to animation direction alongside Takuya Wada, Kazuyuki Iikai, Chen Ying-Yu, Huang Yu-Xuan, and others.

Opening and Ending Themes
The series features captivating music from popular artists. The opening theme, “HIDE AND SEEK,” is performed by the 5-member global girl group i-dle, known for their self-produced power. The ending theme, “Issho Nakako,” is brought to you by the Osaka-based “neo-cutie rock band” Sanshi Shoujo.
Radio Show and Special Event
To further immerse fans in the world of “Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?”, a dedicated radio program, “Otaku ni Yasashii Gal no Radio,” will begin airing on April 4, 2026 (Saturday). Hosted by Yu Serizawa (voice of Kotoko Ijichi), the 10-minute program will be broadcast weekly around 9:45 PM JST within Cultural Broadcasting’s “A&G TRIBAL RADIO Edison.” Listeners can send their messages to otagal@joqr.net.
Additionally, a special stage event, “Otaku to Gal to AJ,” is scheduled for AnimeJapan 2026. It will take place on March 29 (Sunday) from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at the WHITE STAGE in Tokyo Big Sight South Exhibition Hall 4. Original Manga Information
The anime is based on the popular manga series “Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?” written by Norishiro-chan and illustrated by Sakana Uozumi, serialized in “Monthly Comic Zenon” (Coamix). The series has already released 11 volumes, with the 12th volume set to launch on March 19 (Thursday).
