“CookieRun: OvenBreak” Unveils Ambitious World Championship 2026 Plans

Devsisters Corp. announced its comprehensive plans for the “CookieRun: OvenBreak World Championship 2026” on February 26, 2026, via the official YouTube channel. As the game approaches its 10th anniversary in October, this year’s championship is set to transcend a typical e-sports tournament, evolving into a grand offline fan festival designed to captivate both competitors and spectators. Significant changes are slated for the competitive structure and in-game systems, promising an unforgettable celebration.
An Expanded 10th Anniversary Extravaganza: The Offline Fan Festival
The World Championship (WCS) unfolds in three distinct stages: the in-game “Grand Champions League (GCL),” followed by area qualifiers, and finally, the main event. The pinnacle of the competition, the main event, is scheduled for October 24th and 25th in Seoul. This two-day spectacle will merge with the 10th-anniversary offline fan festival, offering a scale and variety of interactive programs that go far beyond a standard e-sports event.
To intensify the competition, the main event will adopt a “Single Tournament” format. This means a single defeat leads to immediate elimination, ensuring every match is as critical as a final. This straightforward yet brutal structure is expected to deliver exhilarating gameplay and enhance the viewing experience, making each moment fraught with tension.
Champion’s Glory: Enhanced Rewards and Fan Engagement
New reward systems are being introduced to elevate the prestige of the players. All participants who advance to the main event will receive a commemorative “Ultimate” rank title, signifying their elite skill. The ultimate champion will be honored with an even higher, exclusive new rank title, which includes a feature to customize their escape level icon, proudly showcasing their champion status.
Further recognizing excellence, a pre-season champion naming system will be implemented. Following the two seasons of this year’s Grand Champions League (GCL), the subsequent “Champions League” game mode will bear the name of last year’s winner, such as the “Kukusi” season. This will allow players to experience the jelly skin set used by the champion and view a trophy designed to honor their victory.
Viewer benefits are also significantly bolstered. In addition to rewards from prediction events, tokens will be awarded to users whose chosen area players win in the qualifiers. The World Championship (WCS) token shop will expand its offerings, ensuring more users can acquire exclusive in-game items.
Evolved Grand Champions League: A More Accessible and Intense Qualifier
The Grand Champions League (GCL), the gateway to the World Championship, will be held twice in-game this year, from February 27th to March and again from late June to July. Participants will earn ranking points (RP) based on their performance in each season. The top eight players from each of the four areas—Snow, Sea, Grassland, and Desert—totaling 32 qualifiers, will advance based on their combined points.
A major overhaul to this year’s GCL is the selection match structure. Last year’s four-group selection has been refined into a two-stage process: a first selection expanded to 20 groups, followed by a second selection where players compete for 24 hours on the same map and with the same combination. This new system aims to reduce the burden of practice while creating more opportunities for a wider range of users to progress to the tournament and earn various rewards.
To ensure fair and skill-based play demanding utmost concentration, a new rule prohibiting the use of the pause function during selection matches has been implemented. This ensures that competitors must remain focused without a moment’s lapse, truly testing their abilities.

The area qualifiers, set to be broadcast live online in early October, will see the top two players from each area (a total of eight) secure their spot in the main event. This year, the first-place winner in the area qualifiers will also receive a prize of 1 million Korean Won (approximately 100,000 JPY), along with their main event ticket.
“The ‘CookieRun: OvenBreak World Championship 2026’ is not just a competition; it’s a heartfelt thank you to our fans as we celebrate ten incredible years,” a representative shared. “We can’t wait to see the thrilling matches and celebrate together in Seoul!”
