Baskin Robbins (known as 31 Ice Cream in Japan) is once again bringing a delightful dose of kawaii to the traditional Japanese festival of Hinamatsuri. From February 15 to March 3, 2026, fans can indulge in the limited-edition “Sanrio Characters Hina-dan Kazari” ice cream set, with mobile order reservations beginning on February 2, 2026.

Hinamatsuri, or Girls’ Day, is a cherished cultural event celebrated on March 3rd, where families traditionally display intricate ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, and their court on a tiered stand called a hina-dan. Baskin Robbins transforms this elegant custom into a vibrant, edible masterpiece, building on the immense popularity of last year’s collaboration to present an even more luxurious arrangement of beloved Sanrio characters.

The “Sanrio Characters Hina-dan Kazari” is a feast for both the eyes and the palate, featuring five scoops of your favorite small-sized ice cream. Each set is beautifully adorned with fluffy whipped cream, colorful sprinkles, and meticulously crafted chocolate character pieces. At the pinnacle of this sweet hina-dan, Hello Kitty gracefully embodies O-hinasama (the Empress), resplendent in a traditional juni-hitoe kimono. Making a charming first appearance in this esteemed role, Cinnamoroll steps in as O-dairisama (the Emperor).

The Sannin-kanjo (three court ladies) are delightfully portrayed by the ever-popular My Melody and Kuromi, joined by Usahana, a cheerful rabbit girl making her Baskin Robbins debut. The entire hina-dan stand is a visual delight, designed with soft pastel colors, delicate floral motifs, and traditional Japanese patterns that beautifully evoke the fresh spirit of spring. Adding to the festive fanfare, Pompompurin, Tuxedosam, Pochacco, Keroppi, and Hangyodon appear on the decorative cardboard stand as the Gonin-bayashi (five court musicians), creating a wonderfully lively and cute tableau.

Mobile order reservations are open from February 2, 10:00 AM, until March 2, 8:00 PM, with convenient pick-up available at participating stores.

This delightful collaboration perfectly encapsulates how traditional Japanese celebrations can beautifully intertwine with modern kawaii culture. “Bringing together the elegance of Hinamatsuri with the playful charm of Sanrio characters creates a truly unique and joyful experience for families,” one might observe. This blend not only offers a delectable treat but also introduces a beloved cultural event to a wider audience through the universal appeal of these characters. It’s a sweet reminder that kawaii culture continues to evolve, finding new and imaginative ways to celebrate heritage with a touch of contemporary cuteness, potentially inspiring similar cross-cultural celebrations globally.
