Universal Studios Japan Ignites Osaka’s “Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign” with “Super Genki” Enthusiasm
Osaka, Japan – In a colorful display of community engagement, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) made its debut participation in the “Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign” on April 6, 2026. This landmark event, held at the Osaka Prefectural Government Main Building, saw beloved USJ characters and the park’s charismatic ‘Shabekuri General Manager,’ Ayanojo Reika, collaborate with local police and high school students to promote vital road safety messages. The initiative underscores USJ’s commitment to its home city as part of a comprehensive partnership agreement with Osaka Prefecture, established in November 2020, and aligns with the park’s 25th-anniversary theme, “Discover U!!!” – a celebration of discovering new possibilities and energizing the local community.
The air buzzed with excitement as Ayanojo Reika, known for her sharp wit, took center stage. She engaged in a lively talk session with the MC and students, emphasizing the critical importance of traffic rules, especially concerning bicycles, which are now subject to new traffic violation enforcement this spring. “To eliminate bicycle traffic violations, both riders and non-riders must know the rules!” she declared, a powerful call to action that resonated with the audience. Her guidance extended to pedestrians, urging them to utilize crosswalks, avoid walking while engrossed in smartphones, and even humorously, to refrain from sleeping on the roads, highlighting a unique local safety concern.

During the traffic safety class, Ayanojo Reika joined high school students in tackling quizzes presented by police officers, turning education into an engaging and entertaining experience. The vibrant presence of Woody Woodpecker and Winnie Woodpecker added an extra layer of “super genki” (super energetic) cheer, as they enthusiastically supported the departure ceremony for the white bike squad and patrol cars. Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura also joined the USJ characters and students for a memorable commemorative photo, symbolizing the strong bond between the prefecture and the park.

Expanding “Discover U!!!” Beyond the Park
This participation in the traffic safety campaign is just one facet of USJ’s broader initiative to bring its 25 years of entertainment power to the local community. The park’s 25th-anniversary theme, “Discover U!!!,” embodies two meanings: “Discover You,” encouraging guests to encounter unknown aspects of themselves, and “Discover USJ,” rediscovering the power of entertainment. This philosophy extends to community engagement, aiming to make Osaka “super genki.”
Looking ahead, USJ has announced further exciting collaborations:
-
Tenjin Matsuri Debut: In July 2026, USJ is scheduled to participate for the first time in the Funatogyo (boat procession) of the Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan’s three great festivals. Crews will ride a specially decorated USJ-themed boat, illuminating the Okawa River during the main festival night. Details will be announced later on the official website.
-
“Discover U!!! Rose”: To commemorate its 25th anniversary, USJ has named a new rose, the “Discover U!!! Rose.” This pristine white rose, symbolizing the potential before discovering a new self, will bloom around early May near the “Rose of Fame” in the New York Area and around the “Louis N.Y. Pizza Parlor” restaurant. Guests are invited to enjoy this unique blossom, adorned with a special nameplate, exclusively at the park.
Universal Studios Japan, a member of the Comcast NBCUniversal Group, has cemented its status as a premier entertainment landmark, attracting visitors globally. With its 25th anniversary in full swing, USJ continues to deliver world-class entertainment and unique experiences, striving to empower every guest to break free from their shells and become “super genki.”
