A Dark Fantasy Unfolds for PixAI’s Mascot Mio

“The Quiet Joker” MV delves into an alternate narrative for Mio, PixAI’s official mascot character. Typically portrayed as a cheerful idol, Mio transforms into a “former court jester of the Demon King’s army” in a fantastical world within the MV. The story follows her encounter with a hero on a journey to save the world, depicting their evolving bond as they travel together. The title “Quiet Joker” symbolizes her dual nature: the entertainer who brings laughter and the hidden “quiet seriousness” she reveals to protect those dear to her.

The creative talent behind this MV is impressive. Aira Yuuki, known for her contributions to numerous anime and game theme songs, brings her distinctive voice and lyrical depth. Akito Matsuda, acclaimed for his work on anime soundtracks like “Sound! Euphonium,” provides a dynamic musical landscape. The animation itself is a joint production by M-ACG Studio and the PixAI Animation Team.

Aira Yuuki shared her thoughts on the project: “‘The Quiet Joker’ explores the inner world of PixAI’s image character, Mio. I focused on creating lyrics with ample space and resonance, embodying a gentle closeness to the theme of ‘You choose.’ I’m also thrilled for everyone to hear this long-awaited collaboration with Akito Matsuda!”

Akito Matsuda added, “‘The Quiet Joker’ has turned out to be a song with a thrilling pace and satisfying chord progressions. It’s been about 15 years since I last collaborated with Aira Yuuki! During production, I particularly focused on weaving her vocal ‘sweet spots’ into the melody. This song is filled with that passion, so please enjoy it!”
