Pikachu Powers Up Noto’s Revival: A Special Marche Event Blends Local Delights with Beloved Character Support
Ishikawa Prefecture hosts “Notomotto MARCHE,” inviting visitors to savor Noto’s unique flavors and contribute to its vibrant reconstruction efforts.

The Noto region, resilient in the face of 2024’s devastating earthquake and heavy rains, is steadily moving towards recovery, bolstered by widespread support. To accelerate this journey and deepen local connections, Ishikawa Prefecture is once again holding its “Notomotto MARCHE” fair. Following successful events in Osaka and Tokyo, the third installment will take place in Ishikawa, offering a tangible way for everyone to embrace Noto’s enduring spirit.

This two-day event, scheduled for March 20 (Friday, holiday) and March 21 (Saturday) from 10:00 to 18:00 at Aeon Mall Hakusan’s 1st floor East Court, will feature 24 local producers and vendors. Attendees can explore a treasure trove of Noto’s bounty, from the prized “Noto 115” shiitake mushrooms and fresh seasonal seafood to processed “Noto Vegetable” products, “Noto Beef” bentos, and the region’s famous “Noto Salt.” It’s a culinary journey designed to highlight the rich agricultural, forestry, and fishery products of Noto.

A truly special guest, Pikachu, will bring its infectious energy to the Marche on March 20, joining hands with Noto’s recovery efforts. Visitors will have the chance to participate in photo sessions with Pikachu, limited to 40 groups per session, with three sessions planned throughout the day. Additionally, exclusive Noto specialty products adorned with Pokémon recovery support art will be available for purchase, allowing fans to take home a piece of Noto’s resilience.

Beyond the charming Pokémon presence, the Marche offers a vibrant tapestry of cultural experiences. At approximately 13:00 on March 20, 100 onigiri (rice balls) made from rice produced in the Toki (crested ibis) reintroduction promotion model area will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The powerful beats of the Nanao Kashimazu Taiko drum performance will further energize the atmosphere, immersing visitors in traditional Japanese sounds. As a delightful souvenir, those who spend over 1,000 yen (tax included) will receive a beautiful “Airy Flora,” an original freesia from Ishikawa Prefecture, with 200 available each day while supplies last.

The event also includes informative PR booths, showcasing initiatives like the “Tokimeku Noto no Mirai” (Sparkling Future of Noto) rice farming certification system and the renowned Noto Beef. These two days are packed with opportunities to learn about and support Noto’s food and culture, demonstrating the region’s vibrant spirit.

The “Notomotto MARCHE” is more than just a sales event; it’s a heartfelt initiative now in its second year, aiming to aid Noto’s recovery from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and the Oku-Noto Heavy Rains. The name “Notomotto” encapsulates a powerful message: “I want to eat more Noto ingredients,” “I want to know more about Noto’s charm,” “I want to help Noto more,” “I want to support Noto people more,” and “I want to love Noto more.” It’s a wish for Noto to become “closer and closer to you.”

The “Notomotto MARCHE” represents a beacon of hope and a vibrant expression of community solidarity. By bringing Noto’s unique produce and culture to a wider audience, especially with the universal appeal of characters like Pikachu, these events not only foster economic recovery but also weave a narrative of perseverance and charm that resonates far beyond the region’s borders.
