Housed within a renovated old folk house, the design eschews a polished, finished look in favor of a “space that grows with time.” Elements like the original beams and walls from before the war have been intentionally preserved, allowing their imperfections, shadows, and the flow of natural air to tell a story of history and authenticity. The design process was an act of careful curation, respecting the inherent character of the materials without over-refinement or excessive additions.
Inside, every detail speaks volumes. The walls are finished with fabric, imparting a soft texture, absorbing sound, and evoking a gentle sense of passing time. The counter, a focal point, is crafted from Aji stone sourced from Kagawa Prefecture, chosen for its quiet presence, substantial weight, and the unique temperature it conveys to the touch—an inspiration drawn from the gardens of Isamu Noguchi. Elaborate wooden objects and fences, made from hinoki (Japanese cypress), are collaborative works created from scratch with friends, symbolizing the boutique’s dedication to craftsmanship and shared endeavor. To add a layer of human warmth and depth, the space incorporates furniture with a slightly rustic charm, sourced from Africa, India, and Morocco, creating a striking yet harmonious contrast against the otherwise refined setting. The entrance wall features a captivating mural by Chigasaki artist KILL THE KETTLE, further blending art seamlessly into the natural environment, inspired by the art-infused landscapes of Kagawa and Naoshima.

Kou Ishimura, Representative Director of Ishimura Shokai Co., Ltd., and Brand Producer/Hair Stylist of TIDE TIME, has built a distinguished career, including receiving the Kami Charisma award in 2025. He emphasizes the evolving nature of TIDE TIME: “TIDE TIME opens not as a completed place, but as a ‘場 (ba – space)’ that will gradually grow as people, time, and sensibilities intertwine.” This commitment extends to every sensory detail, from the ambient temperature and scent to the soundscape and light. Hair & Makeup Artist Ren, another key member, focuses on drawing out each person’s unique essence through attentive conversation and shared time.
