Discover Your “Tide Time”: A New Era of Style Design Blooms in Tokyo

In the vibrant heart of Nakameguro, Tokyo, a revolutionary concept in personal grooming and lifestyle design has emerged. On February 8, 2026, “TIDE TIME” grandly opened, challenging the conventional notion of a hair salon. This “style design boutique” is envisioned as a space where individuals can align with their inner rhythm and prepare for new beginnings, much like the changing tides.

At its core, TIDE TIME is a collective of diverse professionals, each an expert in their field, collaborating to offer more than just a haircut. From bespoke hairstyles to fashion guidance, and from interior aesthetics to overarching lifestyle design, the boutique provides a comprehensive approach to refining one’s individuality and expanding personal horizons. The team includes Brand Producer and Hair Stylist Kou Ishimura, alongside Hair & Makeup Artist Ren, among other talents, all dedicated to crafting a unique experience for each client.

Beyond its core services, TIDE TIME is set to become a hub for cultural exchange. The boutique plans to actively pursue collaborations with like-minded, culture-leading brands, hosting pop-up shops and exhibitions. This dynamic approach aims to foster a new community where inspiration and creativity flow freely.

A Sanctuary Crafted with Time and Soul

The physical space of TIDE TIME is as integral to its philosophy as its services. Housed within a renovated old folk house, the design eschews a polished, finished look in favor of a “space that grows with time.” Elements like the original beams and walls from before the war have been intentionally preserved, allowing their imperfections, shadows, and the flow of natural air to tell a story of history and authenticity. The design process was an act of careful curation, respecting the inherent character of the materials without over-refinement or excessive additions.

Inside, every detail speaks volumes. The walls are finished with fabric, imparting a soft texture, absorbing sound, and evoking a gentle sense of passing time. The counter, a focal point, is crafted from Aji stone sourced from Kagawa Prefecture, chosen for its quiet presence, substantial weight, and the unique temperature it conveys to the touch—an inspiration drawn from the gardens of Isamu Noguchi. Elaborate wooden objects and fences, made from hinoki (Japanese cypress), are collaborative works created from scratch with friends, symbolizing the boutique’s dedication to craftsmanship and shared endeavor. To add a layer of human warmth and depth, the space incorporates furniture with a slightly rustic charm, sourced from Africa, India, and Morocco, creating a striking yet harmonious contrast against the otherwise refined setting. The entrance wall features a captivating mural by Chigasaki artist KILL THE KETTLE, further blending art seamlessly into the natural environment, inspired by the art-infused landscapes of Kagawa and Naoshima.

The Visionaries Behind TIDE TIME

Kou Ishimura, Representative Director of Ishimura Shokai Co., Ltd., and Brand Producer/Hair Stylist of TIDE TIME, has built a distinguished career, including receiving the Kami Charisma award in 2025. He emphasizes the evolving nature of TIDE TIME: “TIDE TIME opens not as a completed place, but as a ‘場 (ba – space)’ that will gradually grow as people, time, and sensibilities intertwine.” This commitment extends to every sensory detail, from the ambient temperature and scent to the soundscape and light. Hair & Makeup Artist Ren, another key member, focuses on drawing out each person’s unique essence through attentive conversation and shared time.

Voices of Support

The unique vision of TIDE TIME has garnered appreciation from various figures in Tokyo’s creative scene. Rapper IO, a notable voice, shared his perspective: “I only entrust my hair to top-tier professionals.
