A Sweet Tale Unfolds: Picture Book Cookie Cans Delight Shibuya
Tokyo’s bustling Shibuya district is currently hosting a heartwarming event for fans of both sweets and classic children’s literature. From February 1st to February 14th, 2026, the “Masterpiece Picture Book Cookie Can Selection by Cake.jp” pop-up store is open at Shibuya Hikarie ShinQs B2F Urban Core. This limited-time engagement, organized by the cake and sweets specialist Cake.jp, offers a unique array of original cookie cans inspired by beloved picture books.

This popular pop-up has previously charmed visitors at over 50 locations nationwide, including JR East’s Gransta Tokyo, drawing crowds with its enchanting selection. The current Shibuya Hikarie ShinQs event continues this tradition, featuring 17 distinct cookie can designs that capture the essence of various popular picture books. From the adventurous Gaspard and Lisa to the whimsical The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the playful Nontan, the mysterious Who’s Asleep?, the mischievous PANDOROBO, and the imaginative Maybe an Apple, there’s a design to captivate every generation.
Beyond their charming aesthetics, these picture book collaboration cookie cans are crafted with care. The cookies inside are made without wheat, eggs, or dairy, making them an inclusive treat. Once the delicious contents are enjoyed, the adorable cans can be repurposed as小物入れ (komonoire), or small keepsake boxes, offering a lasting memento of the beloved stories they represent. They are highly recommended as thoughtful souvenirs or celebratory gifts.
“The joy these cookie cans bring is truly magical, transforming cherished book memories into delightful edible art,” commented a representative, highlighting the emotional connection these treats foster.
