A new bookstore-linked media mix project, “Nocturne Bookmarker,” has officially begun its journey today, January 30, 2026. This ambitious collaboration between Nippan Segmo Corporation and Maruzen Junkudo Bookstore introduces a captivating narrative where real-world bookstores intertwine with a fantastical “book world,” inviting audiences to rediscover the magic of reading.

Nippan Segmo, known for its expertise in planning and operating various IP-related certification exams, has partnered with Maruzen Junkudo Bookstore to bring this original media mix work to life. The project features 12 charismatic young male characters, each uniquely tied to an actual Maruzen Junkudo bookstore across Japan. These “Bookmarkers” are chosen by mystical bookmarks, leading them into a hidden “book world” where they must combat monstrous “bugs” that threaten to erase memories and objects from reality. Their mission: to protect the vanishing world’s memories and, in doing so, gain a chance to “rewrite” their own lives.

The real-world “magmabooks” store in Toranomon, Tokyo, operated by Maruzen Junkudo Bookstore, serves as the inspiration for this pivotal “book world” setting, offering a quiet, contemplative atmosphere where readers can truly engage with books.
