Godiva’s Century of Sweetness: “100 Words of GODIVA” Exhibition Unveils Brand’s Rich History
Get ready to embark on a delectable journey through time as Godiva Japan announces “100 Words of GODIVA – An Exhibition of Words that Weave a Brand,” celebrating the esteemed chocolatier’s 100th anniversary. This unique event, held from January 15 to 17, 2026, at Shibuya Scramble Square Scene12, promises an immersive experience into the heart of Godiva’s legacy.
From its humble beginnings in a small home workshop in Brussels, Belgium, Godiva has spent a century enchanting people across borders, transforming each chocolate piece into a “memorable moment of happiness.” This exhibition, marking the brand’s centennial in 2026, delves into Godiva’s illustrious path and the joy its chocolates bring. Visitors will discover the brand’s journey from the founding of “Chocolaterie Draps” to its expansion into Japan and New York in 1972, and up to the present day.

The core of the exhibition is “100 Words of GODIVA,” a collection of phrases that encapsulate the brand’s philosophy, passion, and playful spirit from various angles. These words range from “8 grams of happiness” to “food of the gods,” revealing the dedication of the founding family, Pierre Draps, and the six active chefs worldwide. The exhibit also explores emotions like “love” and “gratitude” evoked by chocolate, alongside sparkling everyday moments such as “gifting” and “special treats.” Each word acts as a miniature story, connecting visitors to the Godiva narrative.
The exhibition showcases a rich tapestry of Godiva’s heritage, including historical archives, original manufacturing tools, and exquisite molds that gave birth to iconic masterpieces, all illustrating the allure of the chocolate culture Godiva has meticulously built. A highlight will be the breathtaking chocolate piece crafted specifically for this exhibition by Executive Chef Chocolatier/Pâtissier Yannick Chevolot, which is sure to inspire a sense of wonder at the boundless possibilities of chocolate.

“We Create Memorable Occasions of Happiness” is Godiva’s enduring mission, a testament to its commitment to weaving innovation with tradition. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the charms of Godiva and its chocolates, passed down through 100 years, fostering a deeper appreciation and sharing in the sweet joy they bring. It’s a chance to trace the magical journey of a cocoa bean, transformed by skilled hands into a gift that colors someone’s life or a moment of daily bliss.
