A New Chapter for Akibaccano!: First Osaka Tournament Sees Historic Victory
The electrifying world of A-POP dance witnessed a groundbreaking moment on December 28, 2025, as REAL AKIBA BOYZ’s Atsuki Suzumiya’s “Akibaccano!” held its inaugural away tournament in Osaka. The GORILLA HALL OSAKA pulsed with energy as dancers from across Japan converged, but it was the formidable duo, Ryuu and Yuta, who ultimately claimed the championship, marking an astonishing fifth consecutive victory across the series, including their win at the Singapore tournament. This achievement stands as an unparalleled record in the A-POP dance scene, a genre that blends anime, Vocaloid, and VTuber music with diverse dance styles.

“Akibaccano!” has long been a pivotal force in the A-POP dance community, fostering creativity and passion among dancers. The year 2025 has been particularly significant, witnessing the event’s expansion from its initial Kanto tournament to a kids’ competition, a massive event at the 10,000-capacity Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, and its first international foray into Singapore. The Osaka tournament, a first-time venture outside its traditional strongholds, underscored the event’s burgeoning influence and the widespread enthusiasm for A-POP dance across Japan’s Kansai region.
The Reign of Ryuu and Yuta: A Dual Force in A-POP Dance
Ryuu and Yuta have emerged as undisputed leaders in the A-POP dance scene, captivating audiences both domestically and internationally. Ryuu, a member of REAL AKIBA BOYZ, embodies a genre-fluid style, seamlessly blending Hip-Hop with Breaking and Pop. His performances are a testament to versatility and raw power. Yuta, on the other hand, made headlines with his appearance in a Pocari Sweat commercial in summer 2025 and as a guest dancer on Music Station “SUPER LIVE 2025.” His distinctive style incorporates Pop with musicality, playful floor moves, and signature one-hand stands, showcasing a unique blend of artistry and athleticism.

Their prowess extends beyond the A-POP circuit. In November, the duo achieved a remarkable feat by ranking in the top 4 in the 2vs2 Open Styles category at the Freestyle Session World Finals 2025 in Los Angeles, USA. This global recognition solidifies their standing as world-class dancers. Their victory in Osaka, following such international acclaim, truly marks 2025 as a breakout year for Ryuu and Yuta.
The atmosphere in GORILLA HALL OSAKA was electric, a vibrant tapestry of flashing lights, booming music, and the collective roar of a passionate audience. Each spin, freeze, and pop from the dancers was met with fervent cheers, creating a sensory overload that perfectly captured the spirit of A-POP.

Voices from the Champions
Following their historic win, Ryuu and Yuta shared their thoughts:
“This time, we achieved our sixth victory and fifth consecutive win. Thank you so much,” they expressed. “More than anything, it was a feeling of relief. Like, ‘Alright, we’ve reached a good milestone.’ From next year onwards, we plan to approach battles a bit differently. As we mentioned in our victory speech, many kids are also becoming active. We hope everyone will pay attention to the ‘Akibaccano! KIDS’ as well as other young members and teams. We’ll continue to make a ruckus, so please support us. See you again someday at ‘Akibaccano!'”

The Future of A-POP and Kawaii Culture
“Akibaccano!”, organized by Atsuki Suzumiya, is a premier A-POP dance battle event, celebrating its 12th year. It’s a vibrant stage where diverse dance genres clash to the rhythm of A-POP songs – a broad category encompassing anime theme songs, Vocaloid tracks, and VTuber music, much like a digital idol concert brought to the dance floor.

Looking ahead to 2026, “Akibaccano!” is poised for further growth and innovation. The event aims to unearth new talent, deepen the A-POP dance culture, and serve as a bridge connecting communities both in Japan and abroad. This continuous evolution promises to bring the joy of dance and the charm of A-POP to an even wider audience, reinforcing its role as a key pillar in the global Kawaii culture movement. As A-POP dancers gain international recognition, they embody the dynamic, boundary-pushing spirit of modern Japanese pop culture.
