Cultivating Creative Futures: A Gateway for Global-Minded Artists
Tokyo is set to host a pivotal event for aspiring anime and manga creators, offering a unique opportunity to explore the global landscape of IP business. The “3rd Animator and Manga Artist Entrepreneurship Seminar,” a key initiative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Support Project for Nurturing Animators to Soar Globally,” promises to unlock new perspectives for artists aiming to make their mark on the international stage.
Organized by ABC Animation Inc., this free seminar is designed for creators and entrepreneurs in the anime and manga industries who are eager to expand their ventures. It will take place on January 27, 2026 (Tuesday), from 18:00 to 19:30 JST (doors open at 17:30) at the Tokyo Content Incubation Center (TCIC), conveniently located directly connected to Nakano-Sakaue Station.
Empowering Creators Through Innovation and Connection
This seminar is an extension of Tokyo’s “Modern Tokiwa-so Entrepreneur Training Program,” which provides creators with dedicated studio spaces (Atelier Labs) within TCIC. Beyond physical space, the program offers cutting-edge knowledge, technological know-how, and crucial networking opportunities with content businesses, all designed to support the development of anime and manga enterprises.
The upcoming seminar will specifically focus on how creators can connect with local regions, develop and utilize intellectual property (IP), and broadcast regional charm to a global audience. It aims to showcase practical approaches and success stories where creators grow alongside local communities. With fans increasingly shaping the value of “anime sacred sites” (Seichi Junrei – real-world locations featured in anime that fans visit), the seminar will explore innovative IP business models through the lens of “Creator × Region × Global Content Fans.”
Featured Speakers and Program Highlights
The event will feature a dynamic talk session with leading figures in the industry:

Director Shinohe, known for his work on the animated film “Child of Kamiari Month” (Kamiarizuki no Kodomo), will share his journey into animation and entrepreneurship. He will discuss how creators can forge regional connections, give birth to new IP, and achieve global reach, drawing examples from his film’s production, which was supported by local communities. His insights will also cover how animation translates “Japan as a destination” for global fans and the profound impact of “anime sacred sites” on creators and their works.
-
Takeshi Abiko (Locatone Producer, Sony Marketing Inc.)

Yoshifumi Mori (President & CEO, ABC Animation Inc.) will facilitate the discussion, drawing on his extensive experience in content development, licensing, and establishing the Anime Tourism Association.
