Pop-Up Store Highlights
Visitors to the Itami Airport pop-up will find a treasure trove of travel-themed map designs. Among the limited-edition offerings are canvas tote bags and Hinoki (Japanese cypress) magnets, both beautifully illustrating the airport’s locale. The store will also feature new additions to the popular direction sign acrylic stand keyholder series, which playfully incorporates Japan’s “Nandoku Chimei” (difficult-to-read place names) from the Osaka area. This collection, which includes a secret item, allows enthusiasts to carry a piece of Japan’s intricate road network with them.
The pop-up store further enriches the shopping experience with special gifts. The first 10,000 visitors will receive a novelty item featuring a map of the Itami Airport area and airplane motifs. Additionally, customers spending over ¥3,300 (approximately $22 USD) will receive an airplane-themed acrylic keyholder, perfect for adorning bags, on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 200 purchasers.

Exclusive Itami Airport Products
-
Canvas Tote Bag / Itami Airport (¥3,630 including tax): Imagine the thrill of travel captured on a bag. This tote features a wide-area map of the Itami Airport surroundings, designed to resemble a familiar airport direction sign, showing terrain and routes. It’s available in an exclusive cream-colored natural shade with an acrylic charm reminiscent of a flight tag, alongside the dark gray version found in the Map Design GALLERY online store.

-
Map-Designed Magnets (2 types): Crafted from fragrant Japanese Hinoki cypress, these magnets offer a tactile connection to Japan. They beautifully engrave detailed maps of the Itami Airport area, blending the warmth of wood grain with intricate cartographic art.

Osaka Area Pre-Release Items
-
Direction Sign Acrylic Stand Keyholders (8 types, ¥500 each including tax): Following the success of previous iterations, this second series features direction signboards, known as ‘Homen Kanban’ in Japan, with difficult-to-read place names from the Osaka area. These miniature replicas, based on Zenrin’s uniquely collected and maintained map data, are a delightful nod to local road signage. A limited-quantity complete set, including a secret design, will also be available. The first series, popular from last year’s pop-up, will also be sold.

-
Prefecture-Shaped Keyholders / Osaka and Hyogo (2 types, ¥2,640 each including tax): These unique keyholders, inspired by social media requests, feature the distinct shapes of Osaka and Hyogo prefectures. The Osaka version is themed with Bunraku (traditional Japanese puppet theater), while Hyogo’s design highlights Himeji Castle, each using vibrant color motifs.
