A New Dawn for Kawaii Idols: Takane no Nadeshiko’s Debut Album Conquers Charts

HoneyWorks-produced idol group, Takane no Nadeshiko, has achieved a remarkable feat, with their highly anticipated 1st album, “Miwageru Tabi ni, Koi wo Suru.” (meaning “Every time I look up, I fall in love.”), debuting at an impressive #1 on the Oricon Daily Album Ranking. This significant milestone was celebrated on December 17th, 2025, the album’s release day, with a special commemorative event held at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza Festival Square in Odaiba, Tokyo.

The album, a culmination of the group’s three-year journey, features a comprehensive collection of 16 tracks. It includes their major debut single “Utsukushiku Ikiro” from February 2024, a series of five consecutive digital releases themed “Kono Natsu, Suki ni Nacchaeba Ii no ni.” (meaning “Why don’t we just fall in love this summer?”) which began in April 2025, and their new single “Hana wa Chikai wo Wasurenai” (meaning “Flowers don’t forget their vows”), which was pre-released on December 5th. This debut album serves as a definitive showcase of Takane no Nadeshiko’s vibrant growth and artistry.

An Unforgettable Release Celebration

The release event, attended by approximately 700 enthusiastic fans, kicked off with the familiar “Overture,” a track that consistently elevates the energy at Takane no Nadeshiko’s live performances. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the members took to the stage.

The live performance began with “Hana wa Chikai wo Wasurenai,” the album’s lead track, where the group’s passionate resolve as Takane no Nadeshiko resonated strongly. This was followed by “Kono Sekai wa Uso de Dekiteiru” (meaning “This world is made of lies”), a song that further captivated the audience with its introspective lyrics, such as Momoko Hashimoto’s opening line, “What kind of work is it for the idol I aimed to be, to hide things?” This song, which boldly declares “I’m not excellent, I’m not beautiful, I’m a mess,” showcases the group’s raw and powerful presence, a unique charm that sets them apart.

Members shared their joy for the release day. Himeri Momiya exclaimed, “It’s release day!” and Momona Matsumoto added, “We’ve seen so many sights and accumulated so many feelings to get to this day. I’m so happy to celebrate it with you all.” Erika Higashiyama encouraged fans, “This album starts with ‘Overture’ and feels like a live setlist, so you can enjoy the live atmosphere even at home. Please give it a listen.” Their words were met with resounding applause. Nao Shirotsuki then announced, “From here, it’s photo time!” as the group launched into “Melancholic Honey.” The cute vocals, riding on an exploding pop sound, filled the venue, instantly heating up the crowd with a happy, energetic vibe.

“Official Mama” Iyo Matsumoto’s Heartwarming Surprise

During the talk segment, the conversation naturally turned to Christmas, just a week away. Himeri Momiya then revealed that Takane no Nadeshiko had made wishes, not to Santa, but to “a certain person.” A large monitor was brought out, revealing a surprise video message from Iyo Matsumoto, their beloved “Official Mama.” Matsumoto, a veteran idol herself, developed a special bond with the group after performing their hit song “Kawaii Kute Gomen” together at the finale of their 2024 national tour. Through a direct request from Takane no Nadeshiko, she became their official maternal figure.

This time, Takane no Nadeshiko presented their “three wishes to Santa” to their Official Mama:

  • To film many SNS videos together!

  • To perform a live show together during their tour starting in February!

  • To celebrate Mama’s 45th anniversary in entertainment next year!

Iyo Matsumoto, receiving these heartfelt wishes, smiled and said, “Don’t these all seem likely to come true?” She then offered a warm message: “Takane-chan, truly congratulations on your 1st album release! I’m overjoyed. Mama will always be watching over your growth, so keep fighting! Do your best!” Sara Hazuki and Hina Hinata were deeply moved by her words. The anticipation for future collaborations was palpable, even amidst a humorous remark about Suzumi Suu, the youngest member, no longer being 16, meaning they couldn’t sing Matsumoto’s classic “Sentimental Journey” anymore.

A Powerful Climax and a Bright Future

As the live performance moved into its latter half, Mirai Hoshitani energized the crowd with a cute call-and-response: “Everyone, were you looking forward to today? Did you fall in love every time you looked up?” The audience responded with a thunderous cheer. “We’re going to make you fall in love even more, so stay with us!” she declared, leading into “Hatsukoi no Kotae.” (meaning “The Answer to First Love”). The incredibly cute singing voices enchanted everyone, and the cheers from the venue blew away the winter cold. The performance continued with “Idol Ishou” (meaning “Idol Outfit”), a song that truly expressed the bond between Takane no Nadeshiko and their fans. The grand finale was their major debut song, “Utsukushiku Ikiro” (meaning “Live Beautifully”), which adorned the album’s opening. This dignified performance showcased not just their cuteness, but also their strong, resolute spirit as idols. The call and response from the audience reached its peak, further amplifying the power of the nine members’ voices.

The event concluded with a commemorative photo alongside the attendees. Himeri Momiya, representing the group, conveyed their hopes: “We hope all 16 songs on the album reach many people. Please listen to many other songs too, and prepare for our live shows in February!” With this, the nine members, having delivered a dazzling live performance, exited the stage.

This 1st album, “Miwageru Tabi ni, Koi wo Suru.”, proudly secured the #1 spot on the Oricon Daily Album Ranking on its release day – a first for Takane no Nadeshiko. This day marked a truly memorable beginning, foreshadowing the group’s continued ascent in the vibrant world of Kawaii culture, both in Japan and beyond.
