Crafting Your Own Hue with Emaiyu

At its core, the Emaiyu series celebrates Shippo-yaki, a traditional Japanese enamelware technique that involves meticulously baking glass-like glazes onto metal. Imagine painting a canvas, but instead of paper, it’s a piece of jewelry, and instead of paint, it’s a special glaze that transforms with heat. AIGIS has been offering this unique experience for Emaiyu rings since July 2025, allowing individuals to select their preferred colors and hand-paint them onto rings in their stylish Omotesando studio. As of December 2025, AIGIS remains the sole studio in Tokyo providing this hands-on Emaiyu ring-making service.

From Rings to a Full Jewelry Ensemble

Responding to enthusiastic customer feedback, AIGIS is now extending the Emaiyu artistry to new forms. The “flower motif set items” are the first to arrive, offering a cohesive collection of matching rings, earrings, and necklaces. This expansion means that the individual touch once reserved for a single finger can now adorn an entire look, allowing for truly coordinated and personalized statements.

New Emaiyu Additions:

  • Emaiyu Earrings: Priced at 38,000 yen for a pair.
    Green and blue flower earrings
    Green and yellow flower earrings

  • Emaiyu Necklace: Priced at 28,000 yen, including a chain.
    Yellow flower necklace
    Blue flower necklace

Both the new earrings and necklaces can be further enhanced with sapphire settings, available in blue or yellow. The necklace features three sapphire settings, while each earring (a pair) includes three settings, totaling six sapphires. This adds another layer of sparkle and customization to these already unique pieces.

A Rainbow of Personal Expression

The Emaiyu series now boasts an expanded spectrum of 13 colors. Five new shades—Emerald, Gold, Pink, Orange, and Red—join the existing eight, allowing for unparalleled creativity. Imagine combining these hues to create a piece that perfectly matches your favorite outfit, celebrates your “oshi” (beloved idol or character) with their signature color, or simply reflects your mood. The process of choosing and applying these glazes at the studio offers a deeply personal and artistic experience, resulting in a one-of-a-kind treasure.

The Vision Behind the Sparkle

The expansion of the Emaiyu series stems from a desire to make this unique craftsmanship accessible to a wider audience. “I want them to wear their own colors,” shared the company representative, reflecting on the initial success of the Emaiyu rings and the overwhelming customer requests for more variety and matching items. The designer echoed this sentiment, noting, “The popular ‘Hana-hana’ design from the Emaiyu ring is now available as earrings and necklaces. We focused on making them more vibrant and vivid, yet easy to wear daily, allowing the unique glow and color of Emaiyu to naturally stand out.” This commitment to both tradition and modern wearability truly shines through in the new collection.
