The Unconventional Orchestra: Where Dishes and Bottles Become Instruments
Get ready to rediscover the musical potential hidden in your kitchen cupboards! On February 22, 2026, Takahama City will host an extraordinary concert where daily life objects are transformed into a symphony. The “kajii’s Everyday Instrument Concert ~Tableware Sings~,” presented by the ‘Gin no Komorebiza’ program at the Takahama City Kawara Museum & Library of Ceramics, invites audiences to a world where music literally comes from the mundane.
This captivating event will feature the innovative unit kajii, composed of Kumama and So. Known for their ingenious ability to craft over 190 types of instruments from everyday items, kajii brings a fresh perspective to music. Their signature creation, the “Shokkin” (食琴) – a unique ‘tableware xylophone’ crafted from bowls, donburi, and teacups – exemplifies their philosophy of making music accessible and surprising. From buckets and empty cans to plastic bottles and snack boxes, kajii demonstrates that beauty and rhythm can be found anywhere.

A Harmonious Collaboration: Community and Creativity Take the Stage
What makes this concert truly special is its deep connection to the local community. kajii will be joined by special guests from Challenge Support Takahama, a local facility dedicated to fostering community integration through work and life. These participants have actively contributed to the concert by crafting unique instruments from recycled resources collected within Takahama City. This collaboration highlights a heartwarming blend of artistic innovation and social engagement.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how everyday objects, often discarded, can be given a new voice through music,” shared one enthusiast, reflecting the communal spirit of the event. “The thought of hearing a symphony from recycled materials is just delightful!”

Engaging Programs for All: Beyond the Performance
The concert is more than just a performance; it’s an immersive experience designed to engage all senses and ages. A series of related programs ensures that the spirit of creative recycling and musical discovery extends throughout the community:
