The Weight of “Last Chances”: Six Journeys Converge

The path to pre-debut for “stand by you” has been paved with individual struggles and unwavering determination. Each of the six members carries a personal narrative, often seeing this opportunity as their “last chance” to realize long-held dreams.

KAI, the group’s leader, began his entertainment career at 20, navigating acting and stage work alongside part-time jobs. After years of setbacks, joining BM Promotion six months ago felt like the culmination of his efforts. “I finally got my last chance at this dream,” KAI reflected, highlighting the profound significance of this moment.

YUMETO, who spent two years as a trainee, echoed similar sentiments. Moving from Hiroshima four years ago to pursue his dream, he endured countless monthly auditions. “There were times when my mental state fluctuated wildly as people around me debuted,” he shared, but his perseverance ultimately led him to this group. “I’m so glad I kept going until I met these members!” he exclaimed, his joy palpable.

SHUKI, originally aspiring to be an actor after university, discovered his true passion in singing and dancing. Realizing acting “wasn’t for him,” he returned to his roots, successfully auditioning in August. “The first thing I ever wanted to do was sing and dance,” he stated, expressing deep gratitude for his current position despite a later start in the industry.

With trainee periods ranging from a few months to two years, and diverse backgrounds in age, origin, and experience, the members found an immediate synergy. Upon forming, a collective conviction emerged: “With these members, we can aim for the top.” One member humorously remarked, “I thought they were all handsome,” adding, “But since we’d been seeing each other as trainees, there was a sense of familiarity and reassurance. Just being able to form a group with them made me happy.”

Bridging Distances: The Innovation of Delivery-Main Activities

A defining characteristic of “stand by you” is their primary focus on online activities, particularly TikTok Live—a first for BM Promotion. This innovative approach is central to their mission of staying close to fans, regardless of geographical barriers.

SHUKI, the group’s center, passionately articulated this vision. “We are primarily active through streaming. Our fans can see us anytime, anywhere in the country. We stream daily, embodying the concept of ‘stand by you’—meaning we’re connected even when we can’t meet.”

This strategy directly addresses the challenge many distant fans face in attending offline events. Through daily streaming, “stand by you” offers a consistent, intimate connection. “I believe we’ll feel closer to our fans than any other group,” SHUKI added. While prioritizing online engagement, the group also plans to integrate offline activities, aspiring to maintain the same close rapport in person and reach fans across Japan.

Forged in Unity: From Weekly Lessons to Daily Life

The decision to debut brought a significant transformation to the members’ lives. From weekly lessons, their routine shifted to a group-centered existence, with daily interactions. REO recounted the initial adjustments: “It was tough at first to keep up with the changes in our lives. But we talked it through, decided to become one, and from there, our feelings aligned, and we became determined to work hard together.”

This increased time spent together fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and solidarity. When asked about their daily conversations, the members smiled, “Every day is truly full of interesting things; we’re always laughing over trivial matters. We often can’t even remember what made us laugh, that’s how much fun we have.” This process of individual trainees evolving into a cohesive unit has undoubtedly strengthened the bonds within “stand by you.”

Meet the Members: Six Talents United

“stand by you” is composed of six individuals, each bringing unique experiences and personalities to the group:

SHUTO: The Creative Anchor of “stand by you”

Throughout discussions, one name consistently emerged as a cornerstone of “stand by you”: SHUTO, the creative director. His dedication and talent are widely recognized and deeply appreciated by his fellow members.

DAISUKE, his peer, revealed, “The people who are already capable are often the ones who practice the most. You can clearly see that he pushes himself to the point of exhaustion, even sacrificing his own well-being.” He continued, “He is the most creative and truly leads our performance.”

YUMETO, who trained alongside SHUTO, shared, “Even on our days off, SHUTO would privately teach me how to sing. He’s like an older brother to me.” REO recalled an instance when he was struggling with choreography after returning from abroad: “He contacted me, asking, ‘Are you okay?’ and offered, ‘If you want, let’s practice together.’ He even joined me for late-night practice sessions.”

SHUTO’s profound musical background, stemming from his studies in Gospel, Soul, and Funk at a Fukuoka music vocational school, forms the bedrock of the group’s creative direction. “I’ve seen Bruno Mars’ live shows, and I admire artists like Marvin Gaye who weave the culture and global situation of their era into their music,” he explained. His expertise in choreography, direction, and music is undeniably the driving force behind “stand by you”’s captivating performances.

The Artist’s Horizon: Beyond Idol Status

Looking ahead, “stand by you” harbors ambitious dreams that extend far beyond the conventional idol framework. Their immediate goal post-debut is to fill venues solely through their own merit. “Currently, a significant part of our audience is gathered through the efforts of our fans,” one member acknowledged. “Our primary goal is to fill venues with people who genuinely want to see us perform.”

For the next five to ten years, REO articulated a powerful vision. “I believe the ‘idol’ profession often has an expiration date. So, we want to break free from the idol label and become artists whose names are recognized nationwide.” SHUKI echoed this sentiment, emphasizing continuous growth: “In five or ten years, we want to be overwhelmingly better at singing and dancing than when we debuted. We want people to love our performances, not just our looks or visuals.”

While each member draws inspiration from different artists, their collective aspiration remains singularly focused: to evolve into respected artists. They confidently state, “The time and passion we dedicate to ‘stand by you’ are unmatched by anyone.”

Mastering Every Stage: From Dance and Vocals to Live Streaming

As a dance and vocal group, “stand by you” is relentlessly committed to refining their performance skills. “With SHUTO leading the way, all of us are dedicated to improving our dance. And each member brings their own unique strengths to our vocals,” a member shared.

Given their streaming-centric model, the group also embraces new challenges in online engagement. “We currently stream daily, showcasing our personalities. We host various interactive events like drawing challenges and a cappella sessions to connect with viewers,” they explained. Beyond perfecting their singing and dancing, they are actively honing their conversational skills for camera-based interactions.

Ultimately, they eagerly anticipate performing on larger stages. SHUTO’s eyes sparkled as he envisioned the future: “I want to show the unique world of ‘stand by you’ on a grand stage, with perfectly coordinated sound, lighting, and visuals.”

Becoming a Part of Your Daily Life: A Message to Fans

To their dedicated fanbase, “stand by you” extended a heartfelt message, emphasizing gratitude and their core mission.

DAISUKE began, “We will never forget the fans who are supporting us now, from this still-unknown stage. It is because of the fans who love our performances that we exist. We will never forget our gratitude and humility.”

SHUKI elaborated on the strength of their streaming-first approach: “Since we stream daily, we want to become a presence that can uplift our fans whenever they face difficulties or tough times in their daily lives, simply by watching us. We will continue to work hard to become a part of your daily lives.”

Through daily streaming, “stand by you” aims to always be there for their fans—to share laughter, tears, and dreams, making their presence an indispensable part of their supporters’ lives.
